Laundry is not exactly everyone's favorite part-time chore to do. For some, it's purely the number of clothes to wash that make it a dreadful experience, while for others it’s not knowing how to wash them quickly and maintain it’s original condition. We at Spin N Press have laid out a few tips that are simple and easy to follow and will help you with your laundry.
1) Add vinegar to keep colors from running
Adding half a cup of vinegar to your load will stop colors from running and cut your loads in half, allowing you to more easily implement the next tip.
2) Don’t combine everybody’s laundry
Most of you spend a great deal of time in sorting out and folding the laundry when it’s done. By adding the vinegar to your loads, you won’t have to combine your colors and whites, so each finished laundry item goes back into their basket without the need to sort them out.
3) Unshrink your clothes with conditioner
Shrinkage is a very common problem everyone faces while doing their laundry. We have a tip that you’d be surprised to know that actually helps you unshrink your clothes. To restore clothes that have shrunk back to their original size just soak them in warm water and then add 2-3 tablespoons of conditioner and let it sit for 30 minutes. After you do this gently pull the garment out and stretch. While this does the job most times, you could prevent the shrinkage of your expensive clothes by regularly using dry cleaning services.
4) Use Tupperware to wash baseball hats
Put baseball caps in a sealable Tupperware with warm water and a tablespoon of detergent. Close the Tupperware and shake the hat a couple times and voila! Good as new, and you still keep the shape.
5) Use toothpaste to clean sneakers
All you need is an old toothbrush and a little toothpaste to get your sneakers looking as good as new again! You can do this with your converse to keep the white parts bright and shiny!
6) The dry towel tricks
If you need a load of clothes to dry faster, toss a dry towel in there for about 20 minutes. Throw a dry towel in for a bit of help in order to absorb any excess moisture. This process will dry out the load faster.
7) Don’t wash sports gear with the regular detergent
Washing sports gear with regular loads can damage the performance of your athletic gear. It could also transfer those hard to lose smells onto other clothes.
8) Lemons to brighten your whites
In order to revive dull white clothes, toss sliced lemons into a pot full of water and then boil them. Then turn off the heat and add your clothing items. Let them soak for an hour and then wash as usual. In addition to this, you could also dry them out in the sun rather than throwing them in the dryer.
